Elise Maynard
Elise Maynard is a costume historian and PhD candidate in the Department of Theatre and Performance at the University of Bristol. Her doctoral research, a feminist recovery project examining twentieth-century costume design, visual culture, and women’s creative labour, focuses on the design work of Julia Trevelyan Oman. With a background in professional costume making, she incorporates material culture methodologies into her research to deepen understanding of historical design practices. Her broader interests centre on feminist visual and material culture, film, and the histories of representation.
